Toowoomba�s own David Whell has claimed the race of his life by winning the Kratzmann Caravans Firecracker 50 at Toowoomba�s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway for round six of the Queensland Ultimate Sprintcar Championship.

The 2012 Litre Sprintcar Australian Champion has slowly chipped away after his change to 410 Sprintcars, with sporadic top five results at various events, but has never stood on the podium, and now labels the Firecracker 50 win as the race of his career.

�The Queensland Litre Sprintcar Title and the Aussie Title were massive but to win a blue ribbon event open Sprintcar event in this company is amazing. To win against 34 cars is a massive achievement but the boys just gave me a fantastic car and we held on!�

With a fuel stop introduced after a caution with 28 laps to go, race leader Luke Oldfield opted to take new tyres, relegating him to the rear of the field.

Whell led from the restart and was ready to come under fire from Pottsville racer Mick Sauer and Robbie Farr, also fearing a late charge from Oldfield who was on fresh rubber, however the Toowoomba Car Wreckers proprietor perfectly timed the second half of the race to take the chequered flag over Sauer and Farr.

The USC Queensland Series now takes a seven week break to return on March 25 with the USC Chase Round that will host racers from all across Australia�s Eastern Seaboard in search of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship.

In the other events, The V8 Dirt Modified Feature was comfortably won by 5 time former National Champion Tim Morse who returned to the venue after a ten year absence in a controversial ending.

On the final lap Morse lead Lee McKinnell and David Clark down the back straight, but as they entered turn three for the final time, McKinnell got up alongside Morse, ultimately making contact with him, which sent Morse around into a spin.

As Morse spun, David Clark took full advantage and catapulted to the lead, but the yellows came on just as Clark crossed the chequered flag. Officials, quickly penalised McKinnell who was relegated to the rear of the field and a green, white chequered, two lap restart was ordered. Morse restarted from the front and comfortably went on to win the twenty-fve lap feature race ahead of David Clark, Josh Rose, Kevin Stow and Dale Corbett who was also the first sportsman car home in the feature race.

Australian Formula 500 Champion Liam Williams continued his dominance with an impressive win ahead of Ryan McNamara and Ryan Skenner. Williams was rarely troubled all night as he captured his eleventh feature race win of the season. The final Junior Formula 500 demonstration race of the night was taken out by Toowoomba�s Tarleah Apelt ahead of Nick Hodges and Dekota Gay. Hodges second place gave him just enough points to be the nightly overall winner, just six points ahead of Tarlhea Apelt.

The Junior Sedans returned to the venue and Rockhampton�s Jack Cameron was unstoppable in the fifteen lap feature race. Cameron showed class and determination to lead every lap of the feature race and withstood a late race challenge from Toowoomba�s Mitch Pammenter who ended up finishing second, narrowly ahead of Alex Sweeney, Dekota Laverty and Kayden Swindells who rounded out the top five.

The next event is "ONE, TWO, FREE" featuring the Speedcar Super Series, where the third person in your group gets in free. The V8 Dirt Mods will return as well as the Late Model Muscle Cars, Formula 500's and Lightning Sprints.
