Record Numbers for Firecracker 50!

Toowoombas Hi-Tec Oils Speedway has been inundated with entries for this Saturdays Firecracker 50, boasting a record 32 Sprintcars for the first-time event.

Speedway Events Manager, Ben Bishop said the entries have continued to roll in, with V8 Dirt Modifieds, Modified Sedans and Production Sedans all boasting at least 16 entries each and Wingless Sprints attracting 20 cars in readiness for their national title to be held in Toowoomba on the first weekend in March.

We are absolutely amazed to have a record list of entries, in light of January being a very busy month for speedway, so we expected that this event may be a little down on numbers, but it seems like the word is getting out about the long list of improvements that have been made to the venue, and the teams and spectators are really loving it, and cant wait to get here he said.

The schedule will be highlighted by the Firecracker 50; a 50 lap race for the Ultimate Sprintcars as well as a huge fireworks display before 9pm in-keeping with the Firecracker theme.

This venue is all about creating a family-friendly atmosphere, so we will have our usual Kidzone for the kids with a huge inflatable slide and CupnSaucer ride as well, and with a lot of motoring enthusiasts in town for the Swap Meet, its set to be a big night all round.

Hot favourites to take the endurance race include three-time Australian champion, Robbie Farr and Withcott local, Peter Lack who claimed the inaugural Will Power 500 in November and currently leads the Qld USC series points.

Toowoombas chances of a local winner will also be bolstered by three-time Queensland champion, Andrew Scheuerle, but will be under threat from eight interstate campaigners highlighted by V8 Supercars Dunlop Series driver, Garry Jacobsen from Shepparton, Victoria.
